‘Blue Bloods’ season 5, episode 16 preview: Garrett asks Frank for a favor

We’ve made a note time and time again about how “Blue Bloods” is more of a show about police politics than necessarily police work, and in many ways, the latest sneak peek below is proof of that. After all, this one focuses mostly on Frank as he tries to figure out further whether or not he can really bend the rules as a favor for Garrett.

Obviously, this is a very complicated / layered scenario, mostly because you have someone here in Frank who cannot be seen as giving preferential treatment, even if it is to a kid with no priors and with a history of going to rehab to kick his drug habits. However, making this move does earn him good favor.

There is not necessarily a right move to make here per se, when you weigh all of the options. we want to think that he will not budge, even if it displeases Garrett. He has always been more of a buy-the-book guy, and ultimately, we’d like to see him remain that way.

However, at the same time, we also understand that sometimes there are things behind the scenes that go into decisions made by officers, and this could be one of those moments. Either way, the show has created another fine pickle for Tom Selleck, and watching his decision-making play out is part of what makes this show such a big staple of the CBS lineup.
