NBC’s ‘The Voice’ season 8 video: Watch Christina Aguilera, coaches perform now!

Voice -It’s been a tradition on “The Voice” for quite a long time now to open the show with the coaches performing some sort of group number, even if there is traditionally one common thread here every single year: Most of them are pretty cheesy. While every one of the coaches has a heck of a lot of talent, that does not always mean that they actually sound great together.

In the video below (via Entertainment Weekly), you can hear Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams, and Adam Levine all collaborate for a performance of the Lenny Kravitz hit “Are You Gonna Go My Way.” While we’re not going to sit here and say with a straight face that this is the best performance that we’ve ever heard, this is far and away better than anything that we’ve seen on the show in a very long time in this spot. Blake actually in particular sounds very good! We wish we had a bigger role in the song after hearing this.

Ultimately, we do feel like this show is going to have a good bit of fun this season, mostly because you already have a group of people this time who understand not only what the show is, but also their purpose within it. There are no newbies, and we feel like Christina and Pharrell will be driven like no other to keep the other two coaches from winning yet again. Blake has won four out of the first seven seasons, so it may be someone else’s chance.

The show premieres on Monday night, and you better believe we’ll have plenty of coverage!
