‘The Bachelor’ review: Did Jade Roper, Becca Tilley make hometown date confessions?

Becca -Tonight’s “The Bachelor” was all sorts of weird, and another reminder that above all else, the producers care about drama. They will spend only four minutes on a one-on-one date if it means getting to watch Britt and Carly go at it for around seven or eight minutes.

ABC had already more or less spoiled that Carly and Britt were going home during this first rose ceremony, so not shocker there. We do like Carly quite a bit, but she did get caught up a little in bashing Britt to the extent that it may have hurt her “Bachelorette” chances, and also caused her to lose focus a little bit on Chris Soules. There’s not a whole lot else to see here for now, though, so let’s just try to get to the hometown dates.

Becca Tilley – Really boring. She is very nice, but the less we say about here when it comes to entertainment, the happier that we are going to be at the end of the day.

Whitney Bischoff – This was fascinating in its own way, since Whitney comes from a very different sort of family. We like that Whitney’s sister had a very different way of dealing with a “blessing” than we have seen on the show to date.

Kaitlyn Bristowe – We’ve made our support of Carly for “Bachelorette” at times clear, but we’re starting to think more and more like this could be Kaitlyn’s race to lose after this date. She opened up to Chris in a way that was meaningful, but still truthful to her with that billboard.

Jade Roper – The moment we’d all be waiting for about Jade’s photo spread was here! Well, it was a whole lot of hype over an awkward four or five minute conversation. It was really hard to read Chris’ smile here; either he was really pleased, or really awkward watching that video.

Ultimately, Jade didn’t get the rose. Maybe it was the photo shoot! Or, maybe he got along with the other women better. Hard to say. Grade: B-.
