‘Shark Tank’ review: Lumi, Sseko Designs, Boobypack, Gold Rush Nugget Bucket
“Shark Tank” was a little more fashion-based on Friday night’s new episode. Out of the products featured, three of them are various things that you can wear. Some of them are great, while some of them are question. More than anything else, we feel like there’s going to be some debate after watching this one. Do these companies have the right strategy to ultimately move forward and be successful?

Sseko Designs – We do really like the message here: Using business in order to try to make the world a better place. The goal here is to empower women by giving them fair wages to create sandals, and also help them to get a college education. The problem? A $65 minimum is a lot for sandals. This is tricky. Clearly, they are making the world a better place … but they also have not constructed a platform to make money. It’s great that you want to give back, but if you don’t turn a profit, you can’t give back. No deal.
Gold Rush Nugget Bucket – A way to make finding gold easier. We didn’t really have any expectations at all that this would be a product that would get a deal, mostly because it’s such a novelty gift, and because you can get much cheaper versions of this elsewhere. However, the guy behind the brand was so likable, and he had shown that this can make some money, that Robert actually went in with him.
Boobypack – Do you really want a fanny pack here? This is so bizarre: A sports bra meets fanny pack. While it sounds somewhat ridiculous, there are some sales here. Also, it is a cheeky product with a unique name. This was like the Nugget Bucket all over again in that it was a product we were not exactly sure of when it comes to its potential success, but she was so impressive, it was hard to not want to invest in her. Therefore, she scored a deal with Barbara Corcoran.
Lumi – Want to create your own shirt designs at home? This makes that possible, while we feel like the process is rather complicated, it’s probably an edge versus having to go to the mall somewhere to do it. This was an interesting negotiation. We actually think that she made a little bit of a mistake here in that she managed to get the sharks to bend pretty well to her, just not all the way to what she was offering. Robert’s offer of 15% was pretty fair. Still, she left with nothing. We don’t necessarily think that she was arrogant, but she was undervaluing the idea of potentially getting update segments on the show and added publicity.
