‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ alum Drea de Matteo joins
It did not take too long at all for Drea de Matteo to find an interesting part on “Sons of Anarchy,” and this time, it is coming within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As first reported by Marvel themselves, the actress (also known for “The Sopranos” and “Joey”) is poised to appear in at least one episode of “Agents of SHIELD” season 2 as Karla Faye Gideon, a Gifted woman who will have ties to Skye’s father Cal. She is poised to a villain, which should be fun given that Drea’s Wendy was interestingly one of the more human characters at the end of Kurt Sutter’s opus on FX. (She came a long way from where she was at the beginning.)
In a statement to the site, executive producer / head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb had the following to say:
“We’re thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast … We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role.”
This has turned out to be a huge week for Marvel, given that they recently struck a deal with Sony to introduce the Spider-Man character into their universe. While the process of casting has not been made altogether clear just yet, we reported yesterday that Dylan O’Brien of “Teen Wolf” fame could be a possible candidate.
As for “Agents of SHIELD,” much of the remainder of season 2 is being kept under a heavy veil of silence. With that being said, expect to see Skye’s emotional journey front and center for many of the episodes.
