‘Supernatural’ season 10, episode 13 review: Can Dean relate to a wi-fi ghost?

Dean -We were excited for tonight’s “Supernatural” episode “Halt and Catch Fire” for a long time. Some of this may have been due to our love of computers, and some of it may also be due to us being an extremely old-school fan of the show. We still get amped up for these episodes that really take you deep into standalone cases, where you get to see so many different creatures and villains that exist in this world.

On Tuesday night’s new episode, what we saw was Dean trying to figure out whether or not he could help a ghostly figure floating around through wi-fi who was our for blood. He had to use his own experience with the Mark of Cain to relate to him, telling him that there was no way his actions were going to do anything other than to turn him more and more into a monster. Pretty powerful stuff here from Dean; it was a great episode for Jensen Ackles as a whole, given that he got to do this serious stuff, coupled with the fun stuff regarding his lunch earlier in the episode.

The only major note for the long-term story is that Dean is insistent now on doing things his way in regards to the Mark, and he will not rely on the help of anyone else anymore. He has to help himself to figure this out, since there is no guarantee Castiel is going to find Dean.

Critically, there’s not too much to say about “Halt and Catch Fire.” The premise was a fun one, accepted with crazy moments such as a car GPS system going insane (which we’re pretty sure we’ve pictured at some point). Also, great emotional stuff at the end. Grade: B+.
