‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ uses (most of) One Direction to promote premiere
You have to give James Corden credit: He is apparently using as many British contacts as he possibly can in order to promote his upcoming premiere of “The Late Late Show” in March.
In the video below, you can see Corden present with bandleader Reggie Watts, and then also three members of One Direction! Why wouldn’t this be an effective strategy? He is clearly using some of the names in his contact book, and appealing to a younger demographic at the same time. Sure, the whole joke about him being a part of One Direction is something that has been done a variety of times already, but it’s still funny.
The expectations are fairly high for Corden’s show, but we would lie if we were to say that we were 100% confident that this will be a hit. CBS is typically a very conservative network, and they are taking a big chance with a man who is not a TV staple in America. He is also not a traditional comedian by any means, and is more in the vein of Jimmy Fallon, a performer who is a jack of all trades and can do sketches along with something akin to a monologue. Also, he is following up Craig Ferguson. We don’t exactly have to sit here and remind you of how popular Craig was with the majority of the show’s viewers, but let’s just say that Corden has some rather large shoes to fill.
We will have some further news related to the series as it gets closer and closer to airing. The only thing that we can say right now is to stay tuned, because things are going to get extremely crazy as we get closer to the show premiering.
