‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 6 video: An emotional look at Steven R. McQueen’s Jeremy
You can clearly tell that Jeremy Gilbert and Steven R. McQueen’s departure on “The Vampire Diaries” Thursday night is meant to be permanent for a number of different reasons … but the biggest one is the promo below. This does not even attempt to hide the fact that Jeremy is leaving, and it is a tribute of sorts to all of the great moments featuring him on the show. If he was coming back in a few weeks, The CW would look really ridiculous for putting all of this together.
This video really does a very good job at touching on all of the different ways in which Jeremy has made an impact on this show, regardless of if you are talking about him as a brother, a friend, or even a hunter. The guy’s also already died once and come back to life.
We understand why McQueen would be ready to move forward at this point. He’s been on the show for a good six years now, and sooner or later, many actors decide that they want to move on and try something different. For him, he was under contract for this show, but sometimes would still disappear and not have much of a story for weeks on end.
We are happy that Jeremy is just leaving for art school, though, and is not just going to be dying or meeting some other sort of terrible fate. This guy deserves a little bit of happiness after everything he’s been through, and hopefully he can go off and find it.
