Rosie O’Donnell leaving ‘The View’ … again
Rosie O’Donnell is checking out of “The View” for the second time, but it’s not due to any problems or strife on-set.
What is clear here for now is that the parting of the ways between “The View” and one of its main panelists in Rosie O’Donnell seems to be due to her own desire to go home and care for her family, and not so much any decision on the show’s part. This is at least in part according to a statement from her publicist, which contained quite a bit of information on her personal life:
“Rosie and her wife Michelle split in November … Rosie has teens and an infant at home that need her attention. … She is putting her personal health and family first. ABC has been wonderfully understanding and supportive of her personal decision to leave The View. Next week will be her last.”
Meanwhile, a rep for ABC made it clear that they are hoping to have O’Donnell back on the show at some point in the future:
“Rosie is an immensely talented star who comes in each and every morning brimming with ideas, excitement and passion for the show … When she told us that she wanted to exit The View, we respected and understood her desire to put her well-being and her family first. We’re delighted she’s still part of the ABC family with upcoming guest appearances on The Fosters. And we know she’ll return to The View often with her unique point of view and updates on her work and her family.”
We do still feel like this move could be effective for “The View,” given that the show has struggled since the relaunch at finding a head panelist, with Rosie and Whoopi Goldberg butting heads often. There have also been rumors surrounding Rosie Perez’s future, but she has returned to the show.
