‘NCIS’ season 12 spoilers: Return for Cote de Pablo’s Ziva still under consideration
For the first time really in over a year at the CBS TCA Winter Press tour this month, Cote de Pablo spoke out about her departure from “NCIS,” and also her willingness at some point in the future to return as the Ziva character. We feel like the internet really speaks for itself when it comes to just how popular she is. There is obviously a big demand to see this role back on the show, and we don’t see that changing anytime soon.
With this being said, is the feeling still mutual behind the scenes? Cote has been busy filming “The Dovekeepers,” but with that project finished, couldn’t there be an opportunity for her to stop by? While nothing is still definitive on the subject, showrunner Gary Glasberg tells Fox411 that this is a subject that is still being considered:
“I have said it before and I am happy to say it again, we are open to the possibility. We very intentionally didn’t kill her. As far as anyone knows, she is living in Israel and her life is moving forward. We will have to see organically what works in the future. But it is something that we think about.”
We’ve said this before, as well, but we do feel like something is going to happen here in time. the mystery is whether or not it will be something that happens this season or in a season down the road. Tony has pushed his romantic life forward, and in the past several weeks made his first real progress with someone ever since Ziva first left. We don’t really feel like the show is building to a return of the character right now, but we do foresee her being a perfect addition to some sort of event episode in the future. Whether or not that or something more happens, though, is entirely up to both the actress and the powers that be.
For now, you can watch a video preview for the next “NCIS” episode right away at the link here. Also, be sure to sign up now in the event you want other TV news sent right over to you via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: CBS.)

I love Ziva and miss her . I even named my dog ZIVA ……..don’t like Bishop or her eye brow its not the same , I felt that way after Kate left but Ziva jumped in and took her place and it was better than before , but Bishop can never fill the void. Tony needs her too!

Mr Glasman needs to tell the writers to pull their collective heads out of their arses and bring back ziva david…bishop sucks.. there is no chemistry in the team

Without Ziva, NCIS is dead. The spark is gone, the chemistry non existent. No more sparing there is no reason to watch. That left with Cote. Some things are magical, a once in a lifetime thing. That’s what NCIS had with Tony, Mcgee, Ziva and Gibbs. Now it simply exists.

Torn if I would even want her to come back on the show. Not after all the things that happened for the past year, from the things that the cast said to her down to how it looked like she never existed in the show, rubbing it to the fans of Tiva’s faces by making a clone out of her, it’s gonna be a waste of time for her to come back. Ms. De Pablo’s been doing great as ever and going back on the show won’t get her nowhere, not when Zoe is there, it’s going to be too uncomfortable for her character, and I’ll just hate seeing the expression of her face seeing Tony being all over Teats. I’m not even the biggest fan of her, as how I am of Sasha Alexander (Kate Todd), I think Cote’s doing the right thing, very similar to Sasha’s footsteps, she’s got a movie coming up and a new show, and she’s creating a buzz all over the internet. Most importantly, she’s now being known as the Cote de Pablo other than some woman on the show shadowing Mark Harmon. Love the cast, I still watch it but it’s been unrecognizable from the very time Sasha left the show, I learned to cope up when Cote arrive, but the new girl… I don’t know, I can barely adjust of her being a regular on the show, she doesn’t seemed fitting in the team, if you want your show to be as badass as before, then bring a new girl in. Someone that can spark a chemistry with the whole team. I’m all up for that. But never bring Cote back, if you can then I hope the showrunner gets it right this time. Time to give proper closure to beloved characters, and by that – it means you can’t freaking kill them all.

Sasha decided to leave the show because she couldn’t handle the chaotic way of DPB and she gave notice to the writers and everyone else long enough to write her out properly. That is what I call professional. What de Pablo did is not only very unprofessional but also hypocritical and very poor. As for the movie, it’s only a very small supporting role and she isn’t being much promoted for this movie so far (at least I’ve not seen her in any preview or Report about this movie) and the series is an CBS series. The very network that treated her oh so badly. She didn’t get much attention, it’s her loud and very agressive fans that give her some attention. And de Pablo is very proud of her fans for harassing the remaining cast of NCIS. I don’t wish her anything good for her career. She killed it all herself in my opinion. And I hope that if she ever comes back to the show they will kill her off. But that wouldn’t be what she wants because she only wants Tiva so she can continue her desperate tries to get Weatherly into her bed.

Cote de Pablo’s contract with CBS had run out at the end of shooting Season10. When she left.NCIS, she had no contract with CBS for months She did not owe them anything If they were unprepared when she left, that was their problem.
There is a trailer out for the Dovekeepers. It’s been out for a couple of weeks. I don’t know how prominently she is featured in the mini but she is definitely featured in the promo. Cote was not hired by CBS for the Dovekeepers. She was hired by Roma Downey and Mark Burnett’s Production Company, Lightworkers Media.
Yes, her fans, including Michael Weatherly, would like to have her come back to NCIS

Why in the world would they have to think about a back up plan if de Pablo made it clear that she will be back for sure? Harmon said everyone will be back and Glasberg told the same. If you know a little bit about how negotiations in that Business works then you would know that there’s only one person who could have given them the information: Cote herself. So she let Harmon, Glasberg and everyone else know she will be back for sure. That is unprofessional, that is hypocritical when you know she hasn’t signed anything yet. And as for Weatherly, I love him to death but when it comes to Cote/Tiva I don’t take him serious at all. He has seen how crazy de Pablo went over his cast mates in the past months. Even the holy Diane Neal was tossed down by the de Pablo fans although she was the queen and what not. Weatherly isn’t stupid. He likes to play and he likes to fool people. Sorry but after all that happened I don’t really see him wanting her back that much. And another thing: HER fans want her back. But her fans have little to nothing to do with the fans of the show anymore.

February 1, 2015 @ 9:32 pm
And how do you know that she said she would be back for sure? Were you there? Business 101 there is no contract until the contract is signed by both parties. Oral agreements do not stand up in court. And if you knew a little teensy bit about law, you would know that all your argument is hearsay. In a court of law, it is generally not admissible and much of what you say is nonsensical as well. O Pulleeze are we going to do this again? Your lack of logic is astounding. As usual, have an extremely nice day.

They always have a backup plan, every year, because actors’ contracts are up every year. Jesse Stern tweeted about having alternative scripts in past seasons in case actors’ contracts did not work out. It’s normal. they didn’t do it. They didn’t do their job. Then they blamed it on Cote.
liz laughlin
February 7, 2015 @ 2:35 am
Okay, they want to blame her for any shortcomings in season 11, because she “left them in the lurch.” Let’s play the game. and say that she screwed up season 11. What is the excuse now? She has been gone for over a year. Season 12 is gettimg viewership numbers on a par with season 6. Is she responsible for lackluster scripts and other changes made to the show? Hmmm…. She is one powerful lady. According to the Cote haters, the show is far better now without her. How come the viewership numbers have not soared through the roof? It’s so good now why are they not at 25 or 30 million?

Cote was the first cast for the miniseries and has the lead role along with co-star Rachel Broshnahan. There is now a reprint of the book featuring the two gals on the front cover. They wouldn’t have gotten that if they weren’t in the lead roles. I have followed it on Twitter and I think they revamped from the book. In the book there are five dovekeepers; Shirah (Cote’s role), Shirah’s two teenage daughters (Aziza and Nahara), Yael (Rachel’s role) and Revka, an older lady with two grandsons that she is raising after the murder of her daughter by the Romans. In the mini there is according to the trailer only the three; Shirah, Yael and Aziza. Whether the others appear in the mini as minor characters I don’t know. The ending is different too; Shirah and Yael end up telling their story to the historian Josephus whereas in the book it is Yael and Revka. Even though the storyline was changed to simplify and create the story from a single viewpoint versus four points of view as the book is written as a four parter telling the story from each dovekeepers point of view, it promises to be one hell of a story. If it goes as well as I think it might it could be up for an Emmy. It airs on CBS March 31st and April 1st. I for one will be watching. If Cote wasn’t well known before she will be now with or without a return to NCIS.

Sasha broke her contract with no notice. Cote didn’t renew her contract, after months of notice. Who committed the crime? as for the rumors, that’s just gossip garbage. Those rumors about Cote throwing herself at Michael were spread by the few sickos who hate Ziva so much, they hate Cote by extension, and spread any rumors they can think of to try to defame her.

I hope that TPTB stop just “thinking about it” and do something about it. This show seems flat without Ziva. It’s hard to watch knowing what it once was. I’ve started to watch NCIS-LA because NCIS is just not the same anymore. LA ,under Shane Brennan, still has great interpersonal relationships and humor the way NCIS used to. It also has continuity between the episodes. LA is drawing about 10 million viewers per ep even in the Monday 10:00 death slot. Too bad it got shuffled off to the boondocks of CBS. Kudos to Brennan for turning out an exciting show.

I would say this story line is very Organic to Ziva’s return…Sergei going after those who had a hand in killing Ari. It is about time Ziva comes home to DC and to Tony. if the showrunners have not seen the outpouring of fans requests for Ziva’s return then they are both deaf and blind.

I would love it if Cote came back. It would be a perfect tie-in to Sergei/Ari connection story-line from earlier in the season. I’ve been wondering if the Ari connection was brought up as a way of bringing Ziva back. That being said, MW and GG said in an earlier article that they were certain that the characters would cross paths again and sparks would fly so putting those two things together and the fact that Cote recently said in a “Dovekeepers” interview that she is open to returning makes me think that it will happen at some point. It is just a question of when and whether it will be a permanent return or just for a short story arc or one off guest appearance. When I’ve read between the lines on things, I’m still convinced that part of the reason Cote left was because she wanted to do other things as well as NCIS and for some reason they couldn’t agree on that so she walked. Mind you this is only my speculation, I’ve no proof of anything.
At any rate it would be nice to know what has become of Ziva even if Tony and her don’t get their happy ending. I like many others would like to see it happen though. What has happened? Is she happy? Did she find a new line of work? New love? Is she still in Israel or is she somewhere else? Did the recent increase in war in her homeland cause her to leave or take up the fight in a new way? I’ve never seen such an outpouring on TV for a fictitious character before. There is much to be explored here.

I hope too to see Cote de Pablo back. She is an outstanding talent and personality. I understand GG not. He talk about organic. Was is organic in moment on this show, nothing. I remember he was so proud to have changed the story line so fast after this chaotic negoation in 2013. And now he look and think. What he is looking for. He stated that Ziv live still in Israel, but she is still US citizen, so what.
It would be good for the standing of GG to come fast to a conclusion.

I vacillate in my opinions of Gary Glasberg and the interviews he gives. As a fan of the character of Ziva, this latest quote of his really irritates me. As far as fans know Ziva is “moving forward with her life.” Did he watch her final episode? What about her emotional state is supposed to lead me to believe she is now in a good place mentally? Physically, they left in Israel, a country that has seen numerous attacks over the past 18 months. None of the other characters communicate with Ziva, or at least it is not shown, so how, as a fan, am I supposed to assume she’s just fine and moving forward.
Also, what exactly was the point of tying this season’s big bad to Ziva via her brother, Ari, but then resolving it without involving Ziva? Makes no sense. They should be more than capable of inventing a character that wants revenge on Gibbs without the Ari angle.
I honestly miss liking and enjoying this show. It’s been a long time and nothing I read about it makes me think that will change any time soon.

The show itself changed after Cote left. MW given less to do, core premise of Team as Family mostly abandoned, No zip in character interactions, Bishop is as interesting as white chalk, Delilah paralyzed and sent away, everything is Gibbs, Gibbs and more Gibbs. Tony cant be his smart SFA self unless Gibbs is nowhere around GibbsCentric season enders almost every years since ToC! Cote leaving seems to have been the catalyst for a whole lot of other unwelcome changes. So yeah, many of us don’t like the show now. It is not the same show, not the same energy, not the same PAH. Maybe her and Michaels great interactions had been distracting us from the lax writing for some time. But now, the slide in quality and entertainment value is glaringly obvious.

I don’t hate Cote. I just think that she screwed up big time and not CBS or GG or anybody else. This is my own opinion and you can insult me all the way you want, it won’t change it. I’m not going down to your niveau and act like a little Baby whom’s toy was taken away. If you look at Ziva as an individual character she was good. But when it comes to the team she wasn’t. The team got in trouble for her, got hurt or almost hurt and she either let them down or used them. This is my Observation. As for Tiva, if you think that Tony deserves to be pulled down to the ground by the woman in his life who’s also pulling a gun against him because she cannot Control herself then it is you pov. Not mine. I think Tony deserves better. He deserves someone who’s not constantly making fun out of him, insults and abuses him and using him whenever she needs some idiot. Her decisions made like this character less. Again, you can love her and CdP all the way you want. You can put her on a throne and continue to do so. If you want to live an unhealthy way of life, then have fun doing it but please grow up and learn to accept different opinions. You act like a little kid.

Cote is doing fine in her career. More than fine. She hooked up with Burnett/Downey, who are more powerful than Mark Harmon. IMO as part of the team, Ziva was exceptional. I see you are obsessed with the one scene in Aliyah, as are all of the crazy Ziva haters. You can talk to Jesse Stern (the writer) about that scene, he defends it and he defends Ziva very strongly. I don’t put Ziva on a throne. She was human and flawed, jsut as Gibbs is, and that’s why I love her.

February 3, 2015 @ 10:27 pm
I don’t know that I would say that Lightworkers Media is more powerful than CBS. I think that is a huge stretch. Roma Downey wanted Cote for the Dovekeepers. The mini series gave her an opportunity to be valued and show that she could play other roles.
Mark Harmon is highly valued at CBS. I can’t even imagine what he makes per year. If I ventured a guess, I’d say unpwards of 25 mil. He has the lead in NCIS and NOLA is his baby. Remember he was the one who got Bellisario fired off his own show. It is my understanding that Bellisario was allowed no input into the creative process of the show after the dust settled. Maybe that was Bellisario’s idea or not. I don’t know. What is sad is that the character Gibbs was Bellisario’s alter ego. Both DP and Gibbs were retired Marine Corps Gunnery Sergeants. They both had married 4 times and the name Leroy Jethro referred to DP’s father, Albert Jethro Bellisario ( also the name of the Admiral in JAG, Albert Jethro Chegwidden.)

January 31, 2015 @ 3:27 am
The show seemed to value Ms. de Pablo quite highly. They tossed Michael Weatherly to supporting actor status in order to highlight her character. It seemed to me that it was Ms de Pablo who treated her co workers disrespectfully. While we may never know why she decided to leave, it is clear that she had left her co-workers and show runners with the impression that she would be back, and then either quibbled over $$$ and status, or didn’t really intend to come back in the first place but didn’t bother to let anyone know until the last possible moment. IMO Ms. de Pablo treated her former co workers with very little regard or respect. I hope she stays away and I wish G Glasburg and co would stop teasing the possibility. It’s really cheesy.

January 31, 2015 @ 10:04 am
I agree completely. It was not only Tony’s character. Every character on the show has been tossed down to make Ziva look better. She herself allowed her co-stars to confirm she will be back without having negotiations closed. In my opinion, she wanted to leave after S11 anyways and given that she played hardball in negotiations before and was also the only one who seriously kept complaining about the hard work and hours, I think CBS had enough. For Ziva, every other character was almost destroyed and I love to see them not being tossed down just because Ziva caused drama herself again which leads all of them into trouble. And her TCA interview recently just showed again how disrespectful Cote has treated her co-workers. She thinks Ziva’s exit was rushed? Well, wasn’t she the one who decided to limit the 2 episodes down to only 1 and also didn’t give notice on how much time she will be there to shoot the episodes? Also, she would comeback for the right storyline and circumstances? What storyline? She always talked about Tiva and has been promoting it because that was the only thing that gained her fans and gave her attention. So I’d bet she only comes back for Tiva but luckily, Michael has again made clear what he really thinks of it. And as for the circumstances, she probably wants to make the most money and have less work to do. Show me one Company that pays the person with the less work the most money. I think Cote has lost it all and she shouldn’t have the chance to work this amazing cast ever again.

One question–why does Michael Weatherly keep saying that he wants her back? Why don’t the fans tell him to shut up? And did you see the photograph that Brian Dietzen posted on line? It was taken at the CBS party after the Golden Globes. It had Diane Neal, Brian, Pauley, Cote, Sean and Emily. Wow! They sure look like they hate each other–Not!

Weatherly doesn’t “keep saying that he wants her back.” But he keeps getting asked the question. What’s he supposed to say? Not really – none of us really want her back. He knows how he has to behave in interviews. However in a recent interview he did mention how much less tension there was on the set since she left. Interesting. As for the smiling pictures of cast members with CdP -again – What do you expect them to do – scowl?

February 1, 2015 @ 9:09 pm
Your answer was predictable. He could say that the decision is hers or not my decision to make or I honor her choices. He didn’t need to say that he misses her “every day.” And as for knowing what to say, Michael says what he wants to say. He often uses the “F” word liberally. Many fans including myself find his language offensive. In his video with Sarah Silverman, he said “I’m Jesus F-ing Christ.” That doesn’t sound like he’s very concerned with what people think. And of course, all of the cast hates Cote. That is why Sean and Pauley both have an arm around her.
Maybe You are right, the cast and the production staff all hate her. If that were true I wonder why Glasberg would continue the whole thing about being open to her return. Are you saying that TPTB know that she is very popular with the fans and they don’t wnat to come across as spiteful or petty? If CBS wants her gone forever, why don’t they come out and say it? If they told Michael and Glasberg to shut up and not mention her again, I think they would.comply. Then they can just get on with their business. Why is all of this dancing around happening? One clue is that their viewership has dropped to the lowest since season 6. Since they are only half way through the season, they could still recover but will they? I don’t know.
sadtonyfan
February 2, 2015 @ 5:15 am
I think Weatherly is being diplomatic in his answer to a question he has to be getting sick of. Maybe he was trying to appease fans with some of his answers since anyone connected with the show who dared not appear to be heartbroken about de Pablo’s departure have been viciously attacked by some of the worst of her fans. It seems to me that Glasburg only mentioned once or twice the idea that she could return, and again, no doubt after being asked. Although he only mentioned it once it has often been quoted in these types of articles. Maybe he doesn’t slam the door shut on teasing the possibility because it keeps these types of discussions heated up and it’s free publicity for the show.

This is what Bellisario said back around the beginning of Season 4. “I never knew when he was playing Tony and when he was being being Michael, when she was playing Ziva and when she was being Cote. They are very close right now, very close friends,,,”
“Pauley, Michael and Cote all moved into the same condo building and now since then they moved into some other places. At that time they all moved into the same condo together. Which was very helpful the first year for them to be as tight a team on camera as they really are. This is a group that’s very, very close, very, very tight. And what you see reflected in the show, a lot of it comes from the fact that they are so devoted to each other off camera. They screw around with each other as much off camera as they do on.”
Of course you can’t trust Michael, Cote or Bellisario because this is all hype and we know that they all don’t like each other, I don’t really know how we know that but it must be true because we know it’s so, then it must be true. I’m sure.

Okay – I never read any of that because at 9 years ago, I hadn’t even discovered the show. Fine – they Perrette, de Pablo, and Weatherly were all close 9 years ago, but since then Weatherly met Bojana, got married and has two young children. That is not to say that after 8 years as co workers, that he does not care for his former castmate. I’m just saying that when asked the same question over and over and over and over again, he has generally opted to be supportive and in the one interview, he said he missed his friend. In a more recent one, he said that there was now less tension on the set. I don’t contend that they do or do not like each other, but I also don’t conjecture that Ms. de Pablo was somehow grossly mistreated by tptb and was forced to leave. As she has said in her interviews, she made the right decision to leave. I regret that she recently said that under the right circumstances she would be willing to come back. I for one hope to never see this overly dramatically written and polarizing character again. But I suppose saying things like that gets her back into a headline and here we are giving this site our hits.

He has said many times he really hopes she comes back. He says what he wants in interviews (to the point where he gets himself in trouble). He is personal friends with Cote, and he wants her back. Yes, there is less tension. Tension makes the show better. It shows there is less tension – the show has become a bore.

In the same interview, he talked about how he struggled trying to act without Cote there. I guess you ignored that part.

Totally disagree. I’m a huge fan of Criminal Minds. All departed characters on that show, regardless of circumstances (some very bad), were treated with honor. Far better than NCIS has ever treated Ziva. Sasha Alexander broke her contract with no notice and she has been treated as a saint. Cote de Pablo negotiated according to the timetable set by CBS, and she was treated as if she killed somebody’s baby. Sasha was FAR more unprofessional than Cote ever was. Of course Cote intended to come back. She paid people to negotiate for her. Have you ever paid people to negotiate a contract you really didn’t want? that would be moronic.

Yes…this show has become a shell of it’s former self. My Family and I would gladly welcome back Cote de pablo as Ziva David with open arms and a party the day we get the news she is coming back!

The so called love interest ( everyone at NCIS has a love interest story this season) has no real chemistry, is an obvious Ziva clone, and many of us will be very happy when she’s gone. Tony has been professionally stagnant, and a Stepford shadow of himself. He is not completed by this pairing, the magic and sparkle Tony had around Ziva has become dust.

the love interest is a laughable washed out version of Ziva. Tony needs to get out of the handcuffs and advance in his damn job.

So hope Cote de Pablo comes back. This show is no longer must see TV anymore. miss the smart, funny and deep Tony that was there with Ziva.

Great news! The show has suffered since she left. Bishop is just terrible. I don’t care for the new Tony girlfriend. She seems to be a watered down version of Ziva. As an audience, we have no connection to her at all.
