‘Parenthood’ series finale spoilers: Watch a touching Ray Romano scene

The series finale of “Parenthood” is going to be coming on the air on Thursday night, and the idea of that is still somewhat that a part of our brain is probably trying to keep from processing fully. Why would we want to? This is a show that has been so touching and emotional, it is not something that is particularly easy to say goodbye to.

Yet, it is happening, and the sneak peek shows us one of the reasons why we love the show so. On the surface, this appears to be a conversation between Zeek (Craig T. Nelson) and Hank (Ray Romano) that is pretty straightforward. Hank asks him for his daughter’s hand in marriage, and then makes a comment that in some ways, the gesture has become rather “symbolic” (or at least it may be for someone in his shoes). From there, the conversation becomes so much more complex, and it is very fascinating to watch this unfold layer by layer.

What we feel that this scene really does is serve as yet another great reminder of how underrated of a performer Ray truly is on this show, and how we admire him for taking on the part. This is clearly not a guy who needs the money or the fame; he’s doing art for art’s sake, and we’re interested to see what he does next.

We will have more on the series finale soon, so stay tuned!
