ABC’s ‘Resurrection’ season 2 finale spoilers: The quest to save Rachael’s baby

Who knew that “Resurrection” was going to eventually lead to a showdown quite like this, and with some members of the Returned really at war with each other? This is what we were set up with during the penultimate episode on Sunday, and this is also what the new sneak peek video below suggests.

In this particular clip, you see a scene that takes place not too far from where the last episode left off. Rachael and Maggie are upstairs, trying to prepare for the former to give birth. However, Preacher James has his whole army of sorts descending on the Langston residence, and their goal appears to be pretty simple on the surface: Trying to destroy the baby. They are holding on to the belief that the child may be the Antichrist, and they do not want that power to be unleashed.

When it comes to sheer numbers, it is pretty clear that James has the advantage. However, Fred, Bellamy, and Henry do have the inside of the house on lockdown, and also have some firearms. It just remains to be seen if they will be outmanned as they try to figure out how to keep the current course of events as-is.

Despite the low ratings, ABC is making it clear now that this is the “season finale” and not the “series finale.” Translation? They have not made up their mind just yet. We do wish that the start of the season was as strong as what we are enjoying right now, since this current showdown is the most compelling thing we’ve seen since the first four or five weeks of season 1.
