‘The X Factor’ UK: Host Dermot O’Leary addresses ‘departure’ talk

More news -Is Dermot O’Leary really looking for a gig that is not “The X Factor” moving into later this year? Not so fast. While there may have been some rumors out there regarding the subject, it turns out that these are really it: Just rumors. Dermot still would be happy to be a part of the British singing competition once again.

O’Leary spoke out on this subject in an interview on BBC Radio 1’s Breakfast Show, explaining that he never said that he wanted to leave the show in any capacity. The only thing that he actually said was that he has not gotten to a point where he will discuss whether or not he wants to give the competition another go:

“It was taken out of context – of course I’d love to do it! We normally sit down in February and start talking about it … If they turn around to me next month and say, ‘We want a fresh face’, then I’d say that I’ve had eight great years and I’ll go and do something else.”

We feel like Dermot will be back almost without question. He is a tremendous host, and this is not an easy job to do since you have to keep the judges from going crazy, while at the same time also ensuring that the contestant feel like they are cared for by the crowd. Also, it only films a certain percentage of the year, so you are paid well and have a chance to go and do many other things.

At the moment, there is also uncertainty when it comes to the judges on the show, as well. The panel for next season has not been confirmed, and may not be until spring.
