‘Parenthood’ series finale: Who will you not be seeing?

While you are going to have a chance to see the majority of the people that you love during the upcoming series finale for “Parenthood,” there is one person we know for sure now who has been sadly left in the dust: Recurring guest star John Corbett. If you like the Seth character, then you have to hope that this scene is either put online or on the DVD after the fact.

It was actually Corbett himself who confirmed the news while at the TCA Winter Press tour this week, where he was promoting the new comedy “Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll.” Per TVLine, he only found out the sad news himself a mere matter of days before coming out:

“I got a bad call from [Parenthood creator] Jason Katims two nights ago — they had to cut my great scene … They flew me all the way from New York [to Los Angeles] to do a scene with Lauren [Graham], and God, it was such a good scene. I got to see [Amber’s] baby, and they had to cut it for time. I was super bummed.”

This is the rough thing for series finales, and especially series finales that don’t have the time to be extended. You are cramming in years worth of material, and it typically leads to an above-average amount of good stuff left on the cutting room floor. Unless you are on some cable network like FX who will allow you to make your episodes as long as possible, this is an issue that you probably are going to run into.
