Tonight is going to be the latest setback for “CSI” fans, who have to be feeling a little bit of pain right now. There was not a new episode on CBS last week, and that was due to a last-second switch where the network decided to not even bother putting the show on the air.
Tonight, it was never the plan to have the show air a new episode, and the reasoning for that is pretty darn simple: CBS was always planning not to have it on the air instead the AFC Championship Game. There’s no disputing why this is a better move on their part. After all, this game is going to draw significantly higher ratings than anything else, and it, coupled with the earlier NFC Championship Game, are going to further prove why the NFL always reigns supreme.
The unfortunate bit of news is how the next three episodes of the series are going to be handled. There is a new “CSI” that will be on the air come Sunday, January 25 … and it will actually be one of two installments to come on. After that, there is going to be another big installment on the 27th, and that basically gets us through all but two episodes of the season.
How is this bad for fans? Three hours in three nights is a lot to get through for any show, and it feels like more evidence that the show is being burned off the schedule a little bit by the network, who may be looking to go in a new direction.
