‘American Idol XIV’ spoilers: New mentor Scott Borchetta speaks out at TCA

American Idol -While Fox did not necessarily bring representatives from every single show on their roster to the TCA Winter Press tour, they did decide to bring over “American Idol XIV.” What’s the reason for that? To us, it is as simple as making sure that they are doing their best to make this into a solid contributor. The ratings are down yet again, but the remarkable thing is that so far the talent’s been pretty decent.

One of the new additions that Fox really wanted to highlight was Scott Borchetta, the Big Machine Records guru who has been known for helping to cultivate the careers of Taylor Swift, Little Big Town, and others. He is replacing Randy Jackson, and after reading about his vision for the competition (per TVLine), we really could not be happier for his involvement:

“My job will be helping the artists understand who they are, what their vision is and what the arena is for them to really go after it and be an individual … That’s one of the reasons I’m so excited to be involved with them from the beginning, to really work with them.”

We’ve already met the top 24 contestants this season in shadow form, these people will be getting constant advice from him as to how to make the best of their time on the show. The winner could end up working with him closely after the show is over, though we are still curious as to what will happen if the winner is not anywhere close to Borchetta’s wheelhouse. We’re sure he has contacts everywhere, but he is known mostly for country.
