‘Dancing with the Stars’ judge Julianne Hough, Vanessa Hudgens cast in Fox’s ‘Grease’ live musical

Fox -As you may have heard already, Fox is doing everything in their power to get into the live musical business popularized as of late by NBC.

With that in mind, the network announced on Saturday some of the first key additions for their upcoming “Grease Live!”. They are at least names that you may have heard of. “Dancing with the Stars” judge and singer Julianne Hough has been cast to play the part of Sandy, whereas Vanessa Hudgens of “High School Musical” fame will be playing the part of Rizzo. These two should draw at least a slight audience, and at the same time, neither is a huge gamble given that they’ve done plenty of acting, singing, and dancing over the course of their careers so far. Also, “Grease” is one of the best-known musicals out there these days; the problem with “Peter Pan Live!” to us was mostly that this musical itself was not that well-known to modern viewers. While you may know the fairy tale, that doesn’t mean you want to watch it with singing.

One thing that is worth noting here is that the show has been scheduled out for Sunday, January 31, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time. This gives Fox a chance to run it for three hours without it colliding into the evening news. Also, this may be the Sunday before the Super Bowl next year, meaning that it will avoid any sort of substantial football competition. That is something that could give it a chance to draw big numbers.

Now, you just have to wait for an extremely long time.
