Fox News back on Dish Network after carriage dispute
For all of those who wondered how long Fox News was going to be off of the air on Dish Network, we are pleased to report now that there is some sort of resolution to the longtime standoff that the two parties had. The channel originally went dark in December, and given the history of the satellite provider in such standoffs, we’re being completely honest here when we say that we had zero clue if or when it was actually going to be back on the air.
Luckily, it seems like Dish heard the voice of everyone who complained in time for the channel and others in its family to be restored. There were of course a number of moving parts involving in this, but at the end of the day, none of that really matters when compared to the simple truth that the show is back on the air. If you like the network, just be sure to celebrate that.
In a statement in video form, Dish chairman Charlie Ergen had the following to say:
“We know these negotiations were frustrating and we cannot thank you enough for remaining patient … We were very appreciative of all the comments, emails and phone calls we received from our customers that were very supportive of our stance to fight for fair rates and terms. But we also appreciated the feedback that was critical of our decisions. These comments to Dish and to Fox ultimately brought our respective teams together in a spirit of compromise so that our mutual customers would no longer be impacted.”
You should notice a change in your programming package immediately.
