‘The Walking Dead’ season 5: Emily Kinney lands next role on ABC’s ‘Forever’
For those of you curious as to what Emily Kinney was going to be up to following her time on “The Walking Dead,” we now have an official answer to you: She is heading over to ABC for a guest spot.
Specifically, she will be heading over to “Forever,” where she will play (per executive producer Matt Miller to TVLine) a woman who “develops an unhealthy obsession with a murder victim.” It is not the most descriptive tease for a guest spot that we’ve ever heard, but we also suppose that it is better than nothing. Also, this sounds like a pretty meaty guest role, and “White Collar” alum Hilarie Burton is going to return in the same episode as the dominatrix we met there earlier this season.
We’re happy for Kinney, given that one thing we have learned over time here is that success on the AMC show does not necessarily equal success in real life. Jon Bernthal’s next TV project “Mob City” was a disappointment for TNT, and David Morrissey’s planned project with AMC has yet to go anywhere. While there are some exceptions here and there, even some of the current stars of the show like Andrew Lincoln have not crossed over to doing many projects in the off-season.
One of the good things about the timing of Kinney’s exit is that she can now go out and try to find some more roles for herself in pilot season, that is if she wants to continue working in TV full-time. She is also pursuing a music career, so we could see her choosing a slightly different path than most.
