‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ episode 12 review: What did Chester do to Maggie?

American Horror Story -With the introduction of Chester the magician and his mysterious “friend” Marjorie (played by our favorite “American Horror Story” alumni Jamie Brewer) we definitely have a lot to look forward to in tonight’s new episode of “American Horror Story: Freak Show”. Marjorie has ordered Chester to kill Bette and Dot, but will he go through with it?

Stanley: How much trouble is he in now that Dell has admitted the evil plot that they were part of? During Elsa’s big good bye party they give him a gift and it’s the head of the curator of the museum of curiosities. After the big reveal that they know everything, they disfigure him and turn him into the new Meep, but he tells everyone that Elsa was responsible for killing Ethel… and the troop believes him, plotting her demise.

Jimmy: He learns the truth about Dell, Maggie, Stanley and the killings through Elsa, and even though he has no hands, he is so angry towards Maggie that he doesn’t want her help. Elsa tells him that she is bringing in someone to help with his hands, but until then he needs to let Maggie help him. Maggie wants to make it right with Jimmy, but he tells her that she should leave before he gets his new hands, and that he will never end up with her. When he gets his new hands, many thought that he would have “normal” hands made, but instead he has his lobster hands made – we loved that!

Bette and Dot: Dandy shows up to the twins tent “in friendship” saying he knows he missed his chance with them, but wants to offer them protection. He brings them a file from the private eye he hired to show them what a sicko Chester is, but they kick him out. They end up reading the file and learn about the murder of his wife.

Chester: He is still getting pressure from Marjorie to kill the twins and now that Bette and Dot know the truth about Chester they don’t trust him anymore and quit being his assistant… even more so when Chester tries to get the twins to get into the box to be sawed in half.  After Bette and Dot walk out, Chester goes crazy after Maggie volunteers to get in the box and he actually cuts her in half. How did the freaks react? No one was unhappy to see her go. After he wakes up from his Marjorie haze he ends up killing her for making him so crazy.

Elsa: Bette and Dot warns Elsa that the troop is going to murder her and she plans to take off. When the lynch mob shows up to Elsa’s tent, they find it empty. So who helped Elsa? Dandy Mott!?!?! With his motivation being that she signed the Freak Show over to Dandy Mott.

As much as we like Dennis o’Hare we weren’t sorry to see that story come to an end, it was dragging out a little too long. The reveal of Dandy Mott as the new Freak Show owner was grand and we couldn’t have been happier with this reveal. Episode grade:B-
