‘American Idol XIV’ video: Adam Lambert ‘auditions’ for Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr.

How about one extra “American Idol” preview before Wednesday night’s episode airs? This is one that we definitely had to share, given that it is a chance to see Adam Lambert giving a fake audition to judges Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. Suffice it to say, he gets the golden ticket and then some!

As both Harry and J.Lo note in the video, having Adam as a guest judge (filling in for Keith Urban) is a cool opportunity, since he brings something completely different than anything that the show has had on a panel before. he knows the experience from start to finish; as a matter of fact, he knows it on steroids, since Adam probably had more public attention on him during his run than any contestant has since. He knows how to prepare songs, how to handle nerves, and how to deal with public pressure. Of course, he can sing his face off, but there is more that he can offer the contestants this season.

While we know that this is just a one-city gig, we’d love it if Adam returns at some point for either a guest-judging stint on a live show, or a mentor role at some point when we get around there in the competition. We campaigned for him to be a permanent judge a couple of years ago, but we understand now that his schedule’s a little packed. Working on original music and touring with Queen can make things a little crazy.
