‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Kyle MacLachlan speculates on Cal’s future

Agents of SHIELD -Without a doubt, this has turned out to be quite a week for Kyle MacLachlan. It was just announced that the actor will be reprising his iconic role on the Showtime revival of “Twin Peaks.” Now, we have him speaking a little bit about his role as Cal, the father of Skye a.k.a. Daisy Johnson, on Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD.”

The biggest thing that you can expect moving forward from the Cal character are surprises, and plenty of them. After all, isn’t it possibly that the inner Mr. Hyde could come out at some point? MacLachlan seems to suggest so, at least per his recent comments on the subject to TVLine:

“When they hand me the scripts, I’m always pleasantly surprised by the direction they take the character in and what they’re asking me to do … I like playing his scary side, and I like playing the father and man who has been through a lot.”

There are times in which we find ourselves wanting specific things from specific characters, especially on a show like this where there is such a wealth of comic-book history that can be explored. When it comes to the Daisy character, however, we find our desires to be a little more specific. In particular, what we really want for MacLachlan is for him to be here as long as possible. He makes a great villain, and we feel like anytime you can have an actor with the level of prestige he has, it’s very much a good thing. After all, the guy has done everything from “Twin Peaks” to “Sex and the City” to “How I Met Your Mother” and now this.
