‘Shameless’ season 5: Showtime puts full premiere episode online (video)

Showtime seems to be very consistent when it comes to “Shameless.” Just like in years past this week, the network put the entire premiere episode (introduced by star Emmy Rossum) on YouTube so that all fans could properly enjoy it for free. Of course, there is a caveat here in that this is the censored version of the show, and you’ll have to be a subscriber to see and hear all of the more-questionable material.

Still, this is a nice gift from Showtime to their fans, and also a smart advertising tool. Do you want people to pay a decent sum of cash a month to check out some of your programming? Well, one of the best ways to do that is to get people hooked on a show. “Shameless” is the sort of show that is very easy to get hooked on, so every single part of this move to us makes a good bit of sense.

So in terms of what you can expect on the actual story of “Shameless” this coming season, the first thing is that Frank is going to do just about everything that he can to avoid being “sober” in the way in which it is prescribed. Supposedly, he is only allowed to have a beer a day. With that in mind, he goes and finds a way to create one of the most-concentrated beers in existence.

As for the rest of the story, expect to see Rossum’s Fiona have multiple suitors, and with Justin Chatwin now back in some capacity, chaos will probably ensue.
