‘Mad Men’ season 7, episode 8 air date finally revealed
AMC is having its day in the sun today at the Television Critics Association Press Tour, and that means finally getting some more news on some of your favorite shows.
When it comes to “Mad Men,” it specifically means getting an answer to a long-wondered question: When exactly is this show coming back on AMC? Well, let’s just say that you should mark on your calendar Sunday, April 5. Technically, this is Easter Sunday. What is a little interesting about this date is that the past two years, “Mad Men” has started later than “Game of Thrones.” That tradition has reversed this year, with the HBO series premiering a little later, possibly so that the network can have their a la carte subscription service ready to produce more money based off of the show.
In a statement confirming this news, show creator Matthew Weiner passed along the following message:
“What an incredible journey this has been … We sincerely thank the fans for joining us on this ride and hope it has meant as much to them as it has to us.”
How will the story end for Don Draper? That is still very much up in the air, but the one thing that we hope for is that AMC doesn’t give into the pressure of just killing him off. We don’t know if there is pressure there, but given that so many other shows have done something like this, it would feel somewhat unoriginal and depressing to also see it happen here. We’d actually be more than fine if there was a muted, subtle end, much like the way that the series ended its sixth season. In many ways, that could have actually been a proper series finale for this show.
