‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 11 spoilers: On Amelia, Owen, and patience

There is frequently a desire to see characters find happiness on “Grey’s Anatomy,” and we assume that some of it probably stems from the fact that sometimes, it is not particularly easy for most of the characters to have it. Even couples like Meredith and Derek, who you would to think are indestructible, really are just as susceptible to having marital woes as anyone.

These problems are probably why we often cling to hope for people to get together, thinking that it may actually bring them the joy that they have lacked. This is especially true for Amelia and Owen, two characters who have certainly been put through the wringer. We had hoped that Amelia’s happy ending in “Private Practice” would stick, but it obviously didn’t, and we are left to see her ghosts from the past coming back to haunt her. Meanwhile, Owen is still trying to heal after his time with Cristina had a heart-wrenching end last season.

The one thing that Caterina Scorsone seems to stressing in a chat with TV Guide recently is that there is hope for the two, but you would be mistaken to think that come January 29 when the show returns, they will come running full-speed into each other’s arms:

“There have been some seeds planted … [But] because Amelia’s been through so much and gone through so much heartbreak, I think they’re just going to be very careful with how and when they set up the romantic stuff.”

So for the time being, maybe we should consider Jo and Alex the happy couple, though they have problems of their own with Alex’s closeness to Meredith causing tension.
