‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: The Canary arrives; more from ‘Left Behind’

Black Canary -It has been a pretty long December waiting for more news on “Arrow,” but the folks over at The CW were kind enough to send over a gift for the New Year: The first details on “Left Behind,” the big return of the show on Wednesday, January 21.

Of course, the official synopsis below is not going to tell you whether or not Oliver survives, though we’d be pretty darn shocked if he really is dead. Instead, it goes in-depth explaining just how we are going to see the other characters get involved in trying to save Starling City, and as you would expect, this is also going to include Laurel Lance as the Black Canary for the first time. (Whether or not she will be any good at it is a completely separate debate.)

“In the aftermath of Oliver’s (Stephen Amell) fight with Ra’s al Ghul (Matt Nable), Diggle (David Ramsey) and Arsenal (Colton Haynes) continue to protect the city in the Arrow’s absence. However, after three days without hearing from Oliver, they begin to fear the worst may have happened to their friend. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) refuses to believe that Oliver could be dead until Merlyn (John Barrowman) pays the team a surprise visit. Thea (Willa Holland) suspects there is something more behind Oliver’s disappearance and asks Merlyn for a favor. Meanwhile, Ray (Brandon Routh) tests a part of his new suit and Laurel (Katie Cassidy) takes up the mantle of the Black Canary.”

Could this be an entire “Arrow” episode without Oliver? That is not confirmed, but it’s at least possible. If nothing else, think of “Left Behind” as a chance to catch up on some other people who we have not seen as much of over the season.
