‘The X Factor’ UK: Ben Haenow loses #1 spot to Mark Ronson, Bruno Mars

Ben Haenow -This was a pretty predictable story, but one still worth reporting today: After spending a week atop the perch for having the #1 song in all of Britain, Ben Haenow has now fallen to #2 in “Something I Need” sales.

Still, we cannot imagine him being too bummed. The reigning “X Factor” champion did score the coveted Christmas #1, and it has become a great launching pad for his career. With that being said, the money for this single is going to charity, so Ben still needs to work hard on his own music to generate success beyond just chart placements and fame. It could feasibly be a long time before his album comes out. Think, for example, along the lines of late spring at the earliest, and fall at the latest. It just depends on how long Simon Cowell really wants to work with him on putting an album of great music out. If the debut comes early, that sometimes means that the future is not so bright.

As for the rest of the chart, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars have brought their “Uptown Funk” to the top. This is the second time in three weeks that the hit song has scored this honor, and it is still somewhat ironic that the duo really still have to thank here Fleur East, who helped to originally popularize the song by performing it on the show prior to the final. It even caused Ronson to rush the original release of the song.

After some time off for the holiday, you can catch Haenow on tour with the rest of the “X Factor” cast early next year.
