‘American Idol XIV’ video: Can someone set Jennifer Lopez up?

While Fox did release that interesting video of the top 24 on “American Idol XIV” in shadow form, they’ve been a little coy as of late in actually sharing anything else from this group of contestants.

With this being said, they do have another goal in promoting the show: Reminding you that the judges can be funny! In this new video below courtesy of Fox, you can see Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban wondering about whether or not they can set up Jennifer Lopez on a date. Despite all of the dating rumors as of late, she does seem to be single these days.

One of the things that is really great this year about the judges is that they’ve already had a full year to get to know each other, how they work on the show, and what they like and don’t like. This level of comfort should enable all of them to have a little more fun when they need to have fun, but also know when is the right time to hunker down and be serious.

Ultimately, this season should play out much like many others, at least in that there are multiple audition rounds, Hollywood Week, and then eventually the live shows. The difference when it comes to those is that it is only once a week this year, which is a format that has worked okay with “So You Think You Can Dance” as well as “Dancing with the Stars.” We prefer it more with the latter show.
