‘The Bachelor’ spotlight: Will Samantha Steffen have right style for Chris Soules?

Sometimes, we like to be coy with some of our “Bachelor” spotlight articles. With that said, there’s really not too much of a need for that here: We don’t see Samantha Steffen being a major contender for Chris Soules in the long-term.

While she could be a big personality on the show, we’re going to detail below, as we’ve been doing all month long, why she may have some trouble making a relationship with the farmer work out, versus some of the other contestants.

Age – 27

Hometown – Los Angeles, California. Being from LA isn’t necessarily a red flag, but so much of Samantha’s identity seems tied to being around the area. We don’t see Chris moving to Los Angeles. Maybe he’ll be willing to live in a major city in Iowa or Chicago, but we cannot see him going that far from the farm. This is once again a case of wondering why someone like this was cast in the first place. She may be very nice, but isn’t there an obvious compatibility issue?

Occupation – Fashion designer. Samantha also seems to have a history in the pageant world, and while she’s not exactly a model, she may have a tiny bit of history there, as well. Whatever she’s done, she has a pretty solid social-media following (over 3,000 on Twitter) going into the season. That’s far more than the majority of contestants.

Strengths – She’s probably a very creative person, and knows how to speak her mind get the attention of people around you. These are important things for this sort of competition, where you are competing for time with 29 other women. One thing that is also good about her job is that theoretically, most of it could be done from anywhere.

Weaknesses – Anytime that you have a former pageant contestant on the show, there are going to be questions about motives. This is probably even more true given that we can’t see either person wanting to move to where the other lives. We just can’t imagine either her or her 3.5 pound Maltese on a farm in Iowa, even if she does have small-town experience.

Prediction – Samantha is probably out early, maybe even the first night. If this was a different Bachelor, she may go pretty far; she just doesn’t seem to be a good match for Chris.
