‘Doctor Who’ season 9 spoilers: Filming date, likely premiere for Peter Capaldi, cast

The latest -Tonight, the “Doctor Who” Christmas Special is bringing you some holiday imagination / plenty of cheer.

So looking beyond that, what is the show preparing to give you? Above all else, a pretty substantial wait. The series is most likely going to return on BBC One in September or October of 2015 with new episodes. The writers have been working on scripts already, and filming is set to begin fairly early next year. Think of the production schedule as being pretty similar to what we had for the eighth season of the show; somehow, Steven Moffat is going to make this work jumping between this show and “Sherlock.”

Unfortunately, you will most likely have to wait to get many specific details about this story, since the show is not keen on giving many spoilers. Last year, we at least had an inkling, but that was because of the transition from the Eleventh Doctor to Peter Capaldi’s Twelve.

Of course, we are going to have some further updates on the upcoming season as time passes; right now, the biggest news is that Capaldi will be the Doctor for the entire season, and that there will be at least one female writer and one female director before the season comes to a close.

We also found out at the end of the episode whether or not Clara would be returning for the ninth season; while there are still many mysteries about that, it is nice to at least have a little more information!
