‘Madam Secretary’ episode 12 video: Elizabeth and Henry’s anniversary celebration

Think of this as an early Christmas present: While “Madam Secretary” is not going to be appearing on CBS again with a new episode until Sunday, January 4, the network was kind enough to release a new sneak peek today!

Our personal opinion here is mostly that the show wanted to give us a little something nice to tide us over, and this video below certainly is that and then some. Rather than focus on serious issues of diplomacy or really heavy drama, this is instead much more of a clip all about reliving some of the old days for Elizabeth (Tea Leoni) and Henry (Tim Daly) as they find time to celebrate their anniversary.

Are there some twists to it this time around? Sure, and many of them come from the fact that this year, Henry had to use his wife’s name in order to make sure that she was able to get just about everything that she wanted for the day. Sooner or later, that could be a problem if he does it often; the last thing you want is a story about some old woman with a theater ticket being bumped so that the Secretary of State can see the show.

Still, we find this entire preview to be mostly fun, and one of the ways that the show is working hard to balance the everyday life of Elizabeth with the serious responsibilities that she has. This was a struggle in the early going, but since then, the series has gotten better and better in this regard.
