‘Arrow’ season 3 spoilers: Is there a secret lurking for Thea’s boyfriend?

Is love in the air on “Arrow” season 3 for Thea Queen? We’re not sure that we would quite call it love, but there is at least something going on between her and the sly DJ at Verdant played by Austin Butler.

Admittedly, we’re not too crazy about him right now, mostly because we’d prefer to see the character with someone at this point who is not just another typical bad-boy character like we had with Roy. Still, it’s best to not take Chase at face value … at least not yet. Speaking to TVLine, showrunner Marc Guggenheim teased that there may still be a secret or two hidden underneath the surface:

“Like a lot of our characters, there’s maybe a little bit more to him than meets the eye.”

Guggenheim also said that “it would be surprising” if Malcolm Merlyn did not have an opinion on this new guy, and with that, we have some advice for him: RUN. Whatever attraction you may have for Thea, and regardless of how much money you are making at the club, it is probably not worth it. These are not the people you want to spend your time with under any stretch of the imagination.

As for how much Malcolm you will see in the second half of the season, remember that John Barrowman is a series regular. There are clearly still some plans there.
