We’ve spent a whole lot of time discussing the grand sense of mystique that comes with getting a Christmas #1 on the British charts. It is not something that we understand fully here in the United States, and we probably never will completely.
With that being said, Ben Haenow certainly has more to celebrate this year than ever before! He has the title of “X Factor” winner, a single in “Something I Need” that took the honorable spot, and also a chance to make a really good album. Most of his future is going to start to come to fruition next year, when everyone gets together after a holiday break to figure out what they want to do next.
For the time being, though, all Ben can do is share gratitude for this tremendous honor. In reacting to his Christmas #1 on Twitter, the singer had the following to say:
“I Still can’t believe We got the xmas number one … thank u all so much for everything You are the best.”
This is without a doubt a tremendous honor for Ben, but we will still argue for Ben that we really will not know his strength as an marketable artist until his actual album comes out. That is when some of the luster of being a reigning “X Factor” champ will have faded, and what remains is an artist with fans and hopefully some good songs.
You can see Ben next, if you are in the UK, on the upcoming tour that has many scheduled dates around Britain.
