Fox News, Fox Business Channel pulled from Dish Network in latest carriage dispute

Fox News -What is it about Dish Network and carriage disputes? Over the course of the past couple of years, there are quite a few substantial instances of channels going dark after the provider and network parent companies fail to work out a new deal.

Two years ago, the big victim was AMC, which was off the air for an extended period of time. This in turn ended up impacting two of the network’s showcase programs in “Breaking Bad” and, to a certain extent, “The Walking Dead.” More recently, the provider had a dispute with Turner, who owns CNN, TNT, TBS, and other networks. They also had a brief dispute with CBS that led to the network going dark.

Now, the latest conflict is between Dish and Fox News / sister station Fox Business Channel. The two networks went dark on Dish last night, and both parties are currently in the midst of a war of words over who did what, when, and why. The issue here is ultimately just that these two networks are really some of the most popular out there to a particular demographic, and are going to be none too pleased with them off the air.

Do we feel like they will eventually return? Sure, once Dish and 21st Century Fox figure out which one of them ultimately chooses to blink first. Before that happens, though, we expect to see a very tense next little while, or however long it is until the sides ultimately negotiate their way to an agreement in the end.

We’ll have more on this particular story as it comes out.
