‘Madam Secretary’ episode 12 spoilers: First details about January 4 episode ‘Standoff’

Over the past couple of weeks, we have teased that there is some more news coming up very soon when it comes to CBS’ “Madam Secretary.” Today, we are set to deliver on that.

The next new episode of the show, airing on January 4, is entitled “Standoff.” There is going to be a very difficult challenge for Elizabeth to deal with courtesy of an extradition deal. At the same time, there is also a major development in her personal life courtesy of her 25th anniversary.

For some further updates on all you can expect, take a look at the official synopsis below:

“When a Texas state trooper is killed by a Mexican cartel smuggler, Elizabeth arranges an extradition deal before going on vacation to celebrate her 25th wedding anniversary in New York City. However, when political issues arise around the case, she is forced to cut their trip short. Also, Elizabeth’s son injures himself while Blake is watching him.”

For a while, we were somewhat critical of the show’s insistence on telling personal stories to go along with the most interesting part of the story: Seeing Tea Leoni’s character out on the job. However, this is the sort of story that sounds like an exception to that, mostly because an anniversary is something so important, you cannot really ignore that.

There are going to be plenty more stories after this, as well, so don’t worry if there is not a story in here that you are excited to see. We’ll have more as the episode gets a little bit closer to airing.
