‘White Collar’ series finale video: The ultimate fate of Matt Bomer’s Neal
Fans of “White Collar,” be prepared to save farewell to Neal Caffrey: Come this time next week, the show will officially be off of the air. Is it easy to be choked up about that? We’d say so.
The first promo below for next week’s “Au Revoir” definitely asks an interesting question: Is Matt Bomer’s character really set to the risk his life in order to finally earn his freedom? His most difficult mission to date lies ahead, and there’s probably a good reason to worry. We feel that way anytime that there is an ambulance involved.
We are currently in the midst of trying to prepare for this finale, and in doing so, we are really looking at and considering some of what we’ve seen on some other finales over the past few months or so. We don’t see ourselves getting anything near as definitive as either “Boardwalk Empire” or “Sons of Anarchy” gave us; this is a show that has always been about heists and tricks, and so it would not surprise us to see the story come to a close with a cliffhanger of sorts.
Ultimately, we may actually prefer it. So long as we know that there is hope for Neal to be a free man, we are fine with speculating over what he could do with the rest of his life. This is a similar feeling we had after watching the end for Jesse Pinkman on “Breaking Bad.” While the reality is that he may have been picked up by police, we like to think that he got away.

I wonder if Neal is going to fake his own death in order to be free. I hope it has happy endings.
