‘Shark Tank’ preview: Zipz wine, Biaggi Luggage, Gameday Couture, SWAG Essentials, Scrub Daddy

Shark Tank Cast

Tomorrow night marks another new episode of “Shark Tank,” and one that has a whole lot of potential. While we prefer some products to others, we would not say that there is not any dud in the mix. Also, there’s a wine product that may make some of the sharks think that they are seeing a ghost, which could be very entertaining in itself.

The sharks for this episode are Robert Herjavec, Mark Cuban, Daymond John, Kevin O’Leary, and Lori Greiner. As always, let’s start by sharing the synopsis below:

A Brooklyn man tries to interest the Sharks in his family-run business of foldable, wheeled luggage; a single woman from Houston, Texas, makes soaps, washes and grooming products, but will she clean up with a deal? A couple from Sapulpa, Oklahoma has a fashion-forward line of gameday apparel for women geared towards college teams, and an entrepreneur from Scarsdale, NY pitches his single serve wine product that comes in recyclable plastic. And Lori Greiner gives an update on her “All-Stars” with Scrub Daddy, Screen Mend, Drop Stop, Fiber Fix, Readerest and Invisiplug.”

Now, we bring you our first impressions of the products!

Biaggi Luggage –  A very cool idea in luggage that is easy to fold up, and a very professional website. Here is the concern: How practical is it to a mass market? There are very specific uses for it, and to us this is the sort of thing that you have to get into retail. Luggage is one of those things that we really would not want to buy online, given the investment and we want to see exactly what we’re getting.

Gameday Couture – For those who want to go to athletic events or just out on the town still looking fashionable. There is a market for this, given that we’ve seen hundreds of sports teams (including Mark Cuban’s own Mavericks) try to market fashionable, team-branded clothing to women. As a small business, we figure that the challenge for them will be licensing, and then also convincing the audience that these are better than just the standard t-shirts you get at a fan shop. We will give them some points for having products for our alma mater in SMU.

SWAG Essentials – The “SWAG” stands for Soaps, Washes, and Grooming, but if we’re being honest, that alone turns us off since the word “swag” leaves such a bad taste in our mouth. Product-wise, these are designed to give you the best facial care possible, and while the prices are pretty reasonable, we don’t know if there is anything that stands out here to make it a hugely successful product outside the Tank.

Zipz – This product is interesting, mostly because any portable wine is going to bring back memories of Copa Di Vino from seasons back. That company actually appeared twice, and also infuriated Kevin O’Leary for a variety of reasons. We actually like the Zipz branding better, but we’re not enough of a wine guru to know whether or not the quality of this is good even if we drank some. This is to us still the most likely product to succeed going into the episode.
