‘The Walking Dead’ spin-off unveils ‘Cobalt’ working title, first cast members

AMC Logo -After months of constant waiting and speculation, the folks over at AMC are starting to really get it together when it comes to one simple thing: Unveiling some of the first significant details regarding the upcoming spin-off series for “The Walking Dead.”

According to a report from Deadline, this big series, created by Robert Kirkman, has the current working title of “Cobalt.” There is no guarantee that this will stay the name of the show, but it’s at least what they are using in reference to it behind the scenes.

Also, we know now who two of the cast members are, starting with Alycia Debnam. She was actually a part of another recent pilot by the network that was not picked up, and on this new show, she is going to play the part of an ambitious young woman who is the daughter of a guidance counselor. Meanwhile, Frank Dillane (“Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”) is going to play her son, who has a history of addiction and has to confront that in this crazy / terrifying new world.

The counselor is meant to be one of the most-important characters on this new show, which we are assuming will live up to most of the hype. Why? The network has really taken its time letting some news get out there about it, and has not shown any real interest in rushing things along. We envision that it could air at some point late next year, but there is no guarantee about that happening, either.
