‘The X Factor’ UK: Stereo Kicks’ Reece Bibby, Barclay Beales, more say goodbye

Stereo Kicks -So is the Stereo Kicks experiment on “The X Factor” UK this season a success? We remember back to the start of the season, and that’s when we first thought that it was relatively insane to try and form a boy band that consisted of eight people. The biggest problem with these groups is forming an emotional attachment in a short period of time, but with this many members, it’s hard. It’s also made harder when almost all of them have the same exact hairstyle.

While we still have a hard time naming all of the boys, they did a very good job of coming out, working hard, and most of all improving. When Louis Walsh famously said that he never wanted to make the group eight people, they could have pouted, given up, or tried to switch mentors. Instead, they kept working hard, and by the time that they left, they were far and away better than they were at the start.

As for whether or not an eight-person boy band can have a career moving forward, it’s possible, but they do have to try as much as possible to record music with as little instrumentation as possible. Their voices in some ways are the instruments, and we almost want to think of them like a choir who happens to do uptempo pop music.

One other challenge? Staying together, since many groups who form for the sake of the show split afterwards. They’ll need to find a manager, hit the studio, and make sure that they hit the ground running. Hopefully, they got a chance to speak with Union J this week, given that they really should be their role models more than One Direction. That boy band is a one in a million sort of things.
