‘Mad Men’ season 7: January Jones lands (funny?) post-show role
We imagined that there would be at least a few actors on “Mad Men” who would be getting back into TV soon after being on the AMC show for many years. In the case of January Jones, she seems to be taking advantage of the opportunity to really get people laughing.
TVLine confirms that Jones, who you probably know better as Betty Francis from the AMC drama, has joined comedy veteran Kristen Schaal for “Last Man on Earth,” the upcoming Fox comedy starring Will Forte as one of the last hopes for all of humanity. Ironically, this show may also be Fox’s last hope, given how terrible many of the ratings have been lately for their shows.
There is a whole flurry of actors joining this show, since “Enlisted” vet Mel Rodriguez and Cleopatra Coleman are also on board the show. While it is unclear if any of these roles will be regulars, they all will have a very significant part to play in the story.
We have some hope for this story, given that we have always liked Forte and he is coming off that incredible role in the movie “Nebraska.” This also seems like the perfect role for Jones at this point in her career, as well, given that this will be a nice opportunity for her to show that she can do something totally different than Betty, and have a little bit of fun. Her character has at times unfairly led to many believing that she is somehow just like her, which is typical for many actors on these sort of shows.
