‘The Fosters’ season 2 spoilers: The importance of looking back in Christmas Special

The Fosters -A week from Monday night, “The Fosters” is going to be airing its big Christmas Special, and going into it, we understand if you are wondering just why in the world this special really matters to the present of the show. After all, we are going back in time, and you would wonder if anything that is shown in this period (which is between the first and second season of the show) really matters.

Well, show co-creator Peter Paige has a clear message for you: It does. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, Paige made it very clear here that what you see on the show is going to have a great deal of significance to some events that will surface during the second half of the season:

“[Something about] every character that you didn’t know, that will impact how you experience the new season. It’s carefully constructed. We pop back in time to look at last Christmas… but every single character has some story, a puzzle piece that you’re going to need for Season 2B.”

There will be a little bit of the present presumably in this episode, as well, so don’t think of everything as the past. The best way to look at this episode ultimately may just be as a nice little slice of holiday fun, and a way to better look forward to the second half of the season. After this episode airs, there is only going to be about a month or so until the second half of season 2 airs in January.
