‘The Fosters’ season 2 spoilers: When is the episode set?

Ever since it was announced that “The Fosters” season 2 was going to be airing a holiday episode this year, there was one major question that many had: Just when is this episode going to be taking place?

Well, we now have some official clarification on the timeline. Speaking in a new interview with TVLine, series star Maia Mitchell made it clear just when we would see the story taking place, and how important flashbacks are going to be in telling the tale:

“[The story is] what happened in the time between Season 1 and Season 2, and what happened for them to get where they are … Obviously, Callie and Brandon just kissed at this crazy rich-people party, so they have to figure out how to make amends and go forward from that.”

This should be an opportunity to really get to know a good bit about all of the characters, and also see them at a happier time to go along with it. This episode could end up having at least a few notes relevant to the larger story, but don’t expect any huge revelations that would change the course of the future. The writers have to be careful with just how much they decide that they want to play with the story in the end.

This episode is going to air a week from Monday, and the great news there is that this really not that long of a wait anymore! We’ll have some further news as it comes out.
