‘State of Affairs’ episode 2 preview: What’s next for Katherine Heigl series?

Last Monday, NBC debuted a show in “State of Affairs” that looked on the very surface to be one that would draw quite a bit of attention. After all, it is pretty hard not to when you start Katherine Heigl in her first major TV role since being a part of “Grey’s Anatomy” for many years.

With this being said, though, there is still another important question to ponder right now: Can the show actually keep the quality at a high level? At the moment, we certainly understand if you have a few concerns. The second episode of the show has not been shown off to many people just yet, and the review for the pilot were somewhat mixed.

If there is a reason to be hopeful, though, it is this: You have two very compelling leads in Heigl and Alfre Woodard. Heigl’s acting ability has been somewhat overshadowed by her headlines, but she does have some skill. Meanwhile, no one has ever doubted Alfre’s ability to be awesome onscreen.

With all of this being said, it’s still to be seen if the show will even have the time it needs to find itself. The ratings were solid for the premiere episode, but remember here that this episode had a huge marketing campaign behind it. We expect a drop with the second episode, and come around the fourth or fifth we’ll have an idea of what the numbers really are going to be for the show.

One other thing to remember here? “The Voice” may still be paying big dividends as a lead-in.
