‘The Mindy Project’ season 3 to lose Adam Pally as series regular; surprised?
What is it about “The Mindy Project” consistently switching around its cast so much? We’re still trying to figure this one out, but this one is definitely a blow.
According to a report from TVLine, former “Happy Endings” star Adam Pally is going to be exiting the show as a regular after the 13th episode is over. The show was originally given a shorter season, and was only recently handed more episodes. His character of Dr. Peter Prentice first became a big part of the show during the second season, but this seems to be the end of the road for now. He could feasibly make some other appearances, still, in the future.
Are we excited to see what is coming up for the show still? Sure, but it faces the uphill battle of keeping its ratings high enough to be renewed. The good news is that they are getting closer to syndication, and this is a threshold that almost everyone wants to reach when they make it to a third season. It just comes down to whether or not Fox can justify it given the low numbers … but with ratings so down elsewhere, we feel like they can.
As for Pally, we don’t quite feel like he ever got into a full rhythm on this show with a whole lot to do, so he can go out and seek some other projects. Much of the “Happy Endings” cast have landed other comedy roles, and we feel pretty confident that there are going to be some pretty good things out there for him as well, especially with pilot season ahead.
