‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5 spoilers: See Janel Parrish’s Mona (as a ghost!) during Christmas Special
The “Pretty Little Liars” Christmas Special airing on December 9 is clearly interested in doing much more than just bringing you some Yuletide cheer; they are also looking at points to completely twist and augment reality.
The latest proof of that? Well, let’s just say that it comes via the very revelation that Janel Parrish is appearing again so soon as Mona … but not in the form that you remember. Instead of being the living person who haunts the Liars and Alison, she is the Ghost of Christmas Past who haunts them. Her specific role is not entirely clear, but this had to be a pretty fun while in the makeup chair getting ready to play this spin on the classic character from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” Who knows, maybe she will show one of the characters the error of their ways? (It’d be certainly ironic if Mona was pointing out the flaws that someone other than herself had.)
If there is one word that we would probably use to describe this upcoming special as a whole, it’d be “fun.” We know that there will probably be a ton of drama and a whole lot of mourning over the course of the episode, but at the same time, it’s Christmas! Even when crazy things are happening in Rosewood, this show really wants you to embrace it as a guilty pleasure. There is zero reason to think that this episode will be anything other than outstanding from start to finish, and with a few more teases and surprises to get you ready for the second half of season 5, which premieres in January.
In case you have not heard, you will be seeing at least a little bit more of Parrish beyond this special, as well.
