CBS’ ‘CSI’ season 15, episode 6 review: Mark Paul Gosselaar returns, Russell feels pressure

Ever since the premiere of “CSI” season 15 where we had Jared Briscoe and his brother Paul torturing Russell and threatening his career, we had been completely hooked and are dying to see more of this story line… and tonight our prayers to the TV gods are going to be answered.

Julie is seeing her new guy Mark, but because she has agreed to work with Daniel on the Jared/Paul case for Russell she is out in Seattle trying to dig up information. They have found a birth certificate for Jared but there is no mention of a twin, there is however a woman named as his mother. When they find the mother she reveals that she is not his birth mother, and she doesn’t know who the birth mother is. They later learn that the birth mother was taken into a convent while she was pregnant and while Jared was adopted out of the convent, baby Paul allegedly died and was buried there. When Julie exhumes the body, they find a doll in the casket with a photo of Jared and Paul’s birth mother.

The gig harbor butcher makes a 911 call reporting a murder… that he’s currently committing. When the crew shows up at the “murder”, there’s a crime scene set up. Evidence left at the crime scene reveals that Paul may not be the only killer as there is a second set of footsteps – has he found someone new to step in while Jared is in jail?

Paul is getting his brother Jared another shot in court to show that he is an innocent man and to explain why he confessed to crimes he didn’t commit. Paul pushes the issue of the evidence that Russell found that exonerated Jared from the crimes, but acknowledges that it also puts Russell in a negative light for not bringing it forward. Paul wants Russell to help let his brother go and they assume it’s because they were originally working together as killers.

When one of the killer’s victims (Keri) escapes, she admits that she met with Paul before she was kidnapped. He says that she was going to give him information to help his brother get out of prison.

Ready for the twist? Daniel showed up at the hospital to see Keri and she had a really bad reaction to it. Not only that, but we also saw Daniel get into a car with Paul… is he the accomplice or is something else going on? Episode grade: B
