‘Chicago PD’ season 2, episode 7 review: Was this ‘Law & Order: SVU’ crossover a success?
So long as you are a fan of what Dick Wolf does as a producer, then it feels pretty safe to say that you really enjoyed the crossover that spanned three of his NBC shows this week. It included multiple characters, provided fan service, but at the same time kept the serious tone of the shows intact. That is not an easy thing to do.
The case concluded tonight on “Chicago PD” to try and save children from a terrible fate, and from a creative standpoint, the writing made this a success. It justified the move back and forth from one city to the other well, and also allowed it to make some sense that Benson and Voight would go back and forth so much. Jason Beghe and Mariska Hargitay really were the scene-stealers here, and we almost wish that the entire hour to close things off was focusing only on them.
If there is an issue that pops up, it would be that we feel “Chicago PD” has the weakest overall ensemble, and we would prefer that this story wrapped up somewhere other than with this particular group. Still, seeing all of the forces congregate at the end of tonight’s episode in salute was a worthy moment, and one that felt earned.
This crossover was intense, and while it probably didn’t bring any new fans to the table, it probably succeeded in pleasing those who are already around. Grade: B+.

Chicago PD and SVU were the strongest link. Fire had barely nothing to do with it and I’m glad it didn’t because I’m not a fire fan so I love this ep. I’ve been on twitter, I’ve seen some now want to watch CPD because of crossover. And speak for yourself, I love it ended with the CPD cast and I’m glad both casts were involved

I agree 100%, It was odd reading this article, because I feel so different about CPDs involvement.

Anyone else watching have problems with the SVU and Chicago PD parts? The formatting was off (only channel of all mine) and there was narration in the background that was annoying. Was it only my area?

I think it’s the cable company, mine was okay. Didn’t have no talking on mine

Chicago PD was the strongest link, Chicago Fire barely had anything to do with the case. And along with Mariska Hargitay, Sophia Bush was stand out amazing.
