‘Saturday Night Live’ preview: First clip with Woody Harrelson, Taran Killam is odd
Traditionally, “Saturday Night Live” tends to release multiple little promos for their upcoming episode as a part of a larger clip … but that is not exactly what we have for you below.
Instead, the first clip featuring host Woody Harrelson (back for the first time in decades) and Taran Killam is a little bit funny, but also a heck of a lot demented. There are jokes about some bizarre dream sequence / acid trip hybrid that the two actors go down when thinking about their past. Then, they laugh a lot. This is one of those things that seems like it was written together at the last minute, but then again, most of these promos are. If they are devoting more time to making a really great show, we’re never going to complain that the promos are not the best in the world.
What we really hope from Harrelson’s show is that he finds a way to spoof “True Detective” in here, even if it’s hard since the show just made fun of Matthew McConaughey relentlessly during the Jim Carrey episode.
If nothing else, one thing we can really hope for here is that Harrelson will be an easy guy for the show to work with, given that he has long been a character actor, and not everything has come particularly easy for him in his own journey to find celebrity. The smaller the ego you have, the better off you typically are on this show.
