‘Faking It’ season 2 debate: Should Karma and Amy get together this fall?

Faking It -We are only a few episodes away from saying goodbye to “Faking It” season 2 for several months, and with that, now seems like a good time to ask the following question: Should the Karmy Army have hope for their two favorite characters getting together anytime soon?

In some ways, we get the frustration that may be out there among the loyal fans, given that there has not been that much that has really happened for the two this fall. The secret about Amy and Liam is still just that, and so long as that lingers, there can be almost no forward motion for the two getting closer. You know that there is still going to be an enormous step back coming at almost every turn.

Interestingly, our feelings about these two mirror a completely different show in The CW’s “Arrow” when we are talking about the Oliver / Felicity relationship. Do we want the two of them to be together at some point? Definitely, but it needs to feel earned.

This is why we cannot see Amy and Karma getting together romantically this fall, and possibly not even in the second half of season 2. There’s not enough momentum in that direction. Karma has started to become a supportive friend again, but being overprotective of her with Reagan around is not the equivalent of recognizing that she has deeper feelings. Much like Amy had to stew and feel longing for her friend, the same needs to happen in return. Also, Amy has feelings for Reagan now, and having that turn on a dime would probably make her character feel a little too reckless.

Also, we’re probably going to need some distance from this secret coming out for the two to really become close and capable of trusting each other again. We’ve already seen in promos that this moment will happen soon, and it is going to be ugly. Possibly friendship-ending. So before you start to think about if these two can be together, we maybe should be thinking about if they can even continue to be friends.

We’ve stated our case, but we want to hear from you. Vote in the poll below! Also, click here to watch a preview for tomorrow’s episode, or here to sign up for more TV updates via our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo via MTV.)
