‘Criminal Minds’ season 10 spoilers: ‘Girl Meets World’ star to be young Mandy Patinkin

Criminal Minds -Even though Mandy Patinkin is not going to be guest-starring on “Criminal Minds” anytime soon, we do have something to report today that may qualify as good news in its own right: A chance to see a younger version of his character Gideon.

According to a new report coming in right now from TV Guide, Ben Savage, who you almost certainly know best for playing Cory Matthews on both “Boy Meets World” and the new Disney Channel show “Girl Meets World,” is going to be flashing back to the 1970s to focus on a case that Rossi (played in the past by Robert Dunne) worked on with Gideon during the early days of the BAU.

Speaking about this story to the publication, showrunner Erica Messer explained her level of excitement for this story, which will air during the thirteenth episode of season 10:

“I’ve wanted to go back to how the BAU all started and now being in Season 10, it feels like it’s time … I’m really excited about it to show our heroes from the beginning in the bomb shelter in Quantico. [Rossi’s] memory drives us into the flashback, but it’s also very reflective for the whole cast. It’s not a typical episode.”

We do love very much that Messer stresses the word “heroes” in here, which is something she did the last time that Patinkin spoke out publicly about the show. After being a part of the early days of the series, the actor (now on “Homeland“) claims that he regrets doing the gig, and basically felt that it was a different, darker show than what he thought he was signing up for.

For “Criminal Minds,” we are happy that they managed to find an interesting way to still use the character, and are not punishing Gideon because Mandy is no longer a part of the show.
